Mission Statement

"BOMA facilitates national initiatives and the exchange of ideas that support our member associations in the promotion of education, advocacy, recognition of excellence and networking."

BOMA Canada's Mission is to represent the Canadian commercial real estate industry on matters of national concern, to develop a strong communications network between its local associations, BOMA International and other real estate associations and promote professionalism of its members through education programs and effective public relations activity.

BOMA Canada is an affiliated member of BOMA International, which was founded in 1907 as the National Association of Building Owners and Managers. The association assumed its present name in 1968 as it broadened its reach to include Canada and other affiliates around the globe. Today, BOMA International represents over 100 North American and nine overseas affiliates in Australia, Brazil, Finland, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, the Philippines and South Africa. BOMA's North American membership represents a combined total of more than nine billion square feet of downtown and suburban commercial properties and facilities.

Governance

BOMA Canada is governed by:
  • Executive Committee - who are elected to exercise the powers of the Board of Directors
  • Board of Directors which consists of the Official Designate of each of the eleven Canadian Local BOMA Associations, as well as BOMI Canada and the Chair of the Local Chief Staff Officers Council.

National Committees and Task Forces

BOMA Canada's national committees and task forces are comprised of senior industry professionals who review and manage Canadian issues within their respective areas of expertise. These groups meet regularly to update and/or make recommendations to the Board of Directors of BOMA Canada, and provide information briefs for BOMA members in Canada.

The national committees include: Awards, BOMEX Management, Codes & Standards, Education,Environment & Energy, Go Green, Government Affairs, Security & Life Safety, and Telecommunications

BOMA Canada has enjoyed exceptional leadership over the years. Each individual has led BOMA Canada to its current position as "The voice of Canada's commercial real estate industry".

Membership

BOMA Canada is a dynamic federation comprised of over 3,100 members in the industry representing over 2.1 billion square feet of office space in Canada.
